By using Lincoln Town Square, you agree to use the site respectfully and lawfully. Content on this site is provided for general community information purposes. While we make a good-faith effort to keep information accurate and current, we make no guarantee of completeness or accuracy, and Lincoln Town Square is not liable for decisions made based on content published here. Community Submission Policy

Lincoln Town Square accepts public submissions of events, community notices, and directory listings, and inquiries from advertisers and sponsors. The following applies to every public submission type:

  • Nothing is published automatically. Every submission is reviewed by a Lincoln Town Square editor before it appears anywhere on the site.
  • We may edit a submission for length, spelling, clarity and formatting. We never change what it says, and we never decline one because of the opinion it expresses: the only reasons we decline or return a submission are listed under Community standards below.
  • By submitting content, you confirm you have the right to share it and you grant Lincoln Town Square permission to publish, edit, and display it on the site (and, where relevant, in our newsletter or social channels).
  • We may contact you using the information you provide if we have questions about your submission before publishing it.

Community standards

Every submission is read by a person before it appears. We review submissions to keep them lawful, safe, genuine and local, never to choose between opinions. We do not decline a submission because of the point of view it expresses, whether it comes from a resident, an organization, a business or an official, and whether or not we agree with it.

These are the only reasons we decline or return a submission:

  1. It is unlawful, or promotes a crime.
  2. It threatens or incites violence.
  3. It states something false about a real, identifiable person or business that would damage their reputation.
  4. It harasses a private individual, or exposes private information without consent, such as a home address, a phone number, private images, or medical or financial details.
  5. It is sexually explicit.
  6. It is spam, or advertising that is not labelled as advertising.
  7. It impersonates someone, or claims to speak for a government body or official.
  8. It is not about Lincoln and the surrounding communities, or it was sent to the wrong section. When we can, we move it to the right section instead.
  9. It presents as fact something we cannot verify and you cannot source. We ask you for a source first, and we hold every point of view to the same standard.
  10. It is missing details we need to publish it, such as when, where or what happened, or it only repeats what is already published. We tell you what is missing so you can add it.

We may edit a submission for length, spelling, clarity and formatting, and remove only a part that falls under a reason above. We never change its opinion or its conclusion. Criticism of officials, public bodies and businesses is welcome, as long as its facts hold up.

If we decline or return your submission, you can ask us which reason applied, and you can revise it and send it again. Contact us

These standards cover what the community sends us. Our own reporting is held to accuracy and fairness, and names its sources.

Alerts

Public safety and community alerts are not open to public submission. Alerts are published only by the Lincoln Town Square site administrator, based on information from trusted official sources. If you have information relevant to a public safety alert, please contact us rather than submitting it as a notice or event.

Advertising & Sponsorship

Advertising, sponsorship, and premium directory listings are available on a paid basis. All paid or sponsored content is clearly labeled as such and does not receive special treatment in our news coverage or editorial decisions. See the Advertise / Sponsor page to make an inquiry.
