Who runs Lincoln Town Square, how things get published, and what we will and will not do.
Lincoln Town Square is a community information hub and local news publication covering Lincoln and the surrounding towns. It is owned and operated by C.A. Lord Software Group LLC.
Lincoln Town Square is not affiliated with, operated by, or endorsed by the Town of Lincoln, Maine, or any municipal entity.
What we publish
Five streams, kept deliberately separate: Local News, Community Notices, Alerts, Events and the Directory. A sixth view, Developing Stories, tracks a single subject across many updates. News is reporting; a notice is an announcement; an alert is urgent. Merging them would make each less useful.
How things get published
Every community submission enters a review queue and is read by an editor before it appears. Alerts are stricter still: only an administrator can publish one, and nothing publishes an alert automatically.
Where content is curated, summarised, imported or assisted by automation, we say so and we name the source. You will see a source label on every item.
On automation
We use software behind the scenes to help monitor official sources, normalise and route incoming material, and keep a full audit trail. It is a drafting and routing aid for the editors. There is no public-facing AI on this site, and no automated system publishes an alert.
Open to every point of view
We read every submission before it appears, and we never turn one down because of the opinion it expresses, whoever holds it. We decline a submission only for the reasons in our community standards, such as threats, defamation, harassment or spam, and those reasons are the same for everyone.

Advertising
Paid placements and premium listings are always labelled and always visually distinct from editorial content. Advertisers have no influence on coverage.
Built on Town Square™
Lincoln Town Square is the first community site built on Town Square™, a platform made by C.A. Lord Software Group LLC for local news and community information. Town Square™ is designed so that any town or region can have a place like this one: run locally, open to every point of view, and independent of local government. Lincoln is where it started.
