Help outside the district

District crews went out of their area on mutual aid twice in August.

On Aug. 13 they responded to the partial collapse of the Llewellyn Estes Bridge in Old Town. The bridge gave way while it was under construction. The Maine Department of Transportation is still investigating the cause and will finish the project with steel girders.

On Aug. 14 they helped at a fire that destroyed a home on First Street in Milo. Two residents were displaced. The State Fire Marshal’s Office could not determine the cause, but believes the fire started in a second-floor bathroom.

The month ended with the district helping Lincoln Fire at the Aug. 31 wildfire in Chester.

In an emergency, call 911. The district’s main number is (207) 489-2100.

Disclosure: Lincoln Town Square founder Christopher Lord helped form the district and served on its board of directors for Edinburg until he resigned, after moving to Lincoln.
